Kick-Back and Give Back with These Athleisure Brands
In case you’re unfamiliar, athleisure is more than a just category of clothing…it’s a way of life. For most of my adult life I have aspired to be someone who spends their days in leggings, tees and large knit sweaters. I am proud to report that since starting my own business and working from home, I have achieved my dream. I am now a member of a rarefied class of women: Ladies Who Lounge (#LWL). I’ve never been happier.
Whether you too are an aspiring LWL, a full-blown athlete, or something in between, one of the easiest ways we can do better daily is by sweating and stretching in sustainably-made active wear. Here are a few of my favorites:
Girlfriend's Collective - With a firm belief that “old water bottles and fishing nets look better on you than they do clogging landfills and polluting oceans” (we couldn’t agree more, btw), this brand makes eco-friendly and size-inclusive athleisure with a functionally minimalist aesthetic.
Groceries Apparel - I’m not sure you can truly call yourself a LWL until you own one of Groceries Apparel’s tees or hoodies. Not only do they feel oh-so-yummy on your skin, but the LA-based brand is committed to crafting clothes using 100% organic and recycled materials.
Satva - Satva’s clothes are simple, beautiful and incomprably ethical. Not only do they use sustainably-made fabrics, but through a partnership with Suminter India Organics®, an environmental and socially conscious organic cotton production corporation in India, they are able to re-invest in and help support the local agricultural community with which they do business..
